Comment tu est arrivé au footy?

This is a bit difficult to answer as I was so young when I started playing that I don't remember a specific starting point. Some of my earliest memories as a child are of watching Geelong play in losing Grand Finals ('89, '92 and '94). My mother was a passionate Geelong fan and when you are born into a family you automatically support the team that your parents support. Having lived and grown up in Geelong, nobody really wants to play anything else, it is a town that is sometimes obsessed with the fortunes of it's team. At school, almost all free time was spent kicking the footy with friends or playing practice matches. Thursday nights were dedicated to training and Saturday morning was game time for juniors. When you grow up in Victoria, it's not so much a case of 'how did you discover footy' but more 'how did footy discover you'.

Son parcours de jouer et entraineur:

I started to play in local leagues when I was about 7 years old and continued until I was 18. At 17 I was the captain of the team I played for and I spent my final year playing in Seniors with my local club the Rokewood Grasshoppers. Due to work constraints I was unable to play up until 23 years of age when I moved to France and discovered the Cockerels. I have been with the Cocks for three years now and felt I had enough experience to become the coach in Febuary this year when our previous coach returned to Australia.

Comment es tu arrive au Paris Cockerels?

I discovered the Paris Cockerels by total accident actually. I was surfing the web one day and found a link from Wikipedia to the Cockerels website. I sent a text asking the president if I were able to come to training and a few days later I was in Bois de Vincennes kicking a footy with some Aussie ex-pats and a couple of French guys. I was really shocked to find the Aussie rules existed in France but it was really nice to feel like I could share a part of my culture with people who live on the other side of the world.

Après avoir été pendant deux ans la Présidente de l'association Paris Cockerels, Maureen se consacre exclusivement à la partie communication.

Elle rédige notamment la majorité des articles de ce site Internet.

François fait partie des anciens des Paris Cockerels.

Il a le rôle de capitaine et est un vrai moteur de la vie associative. Il s'occupe notamment des déplacements et est présent lors des représentations auprès d'autres associations ou écoles.

Dave est devenu l'arbitre officiel des Paris Cockerels depuis 2011.
